"This painting represents the time before my breakdown and depression. It is the mask I portrayed mainly to myself and others. I'm saying, 'I'm okay, I'm coping.' I paint my face, I go to work, I spend time with my friends and family. All the while I am feeling more and more disconnected from everything and everyone. I am in total denial and living in a vacuum."
