My drawings and photos are a response to the perplexity of my illness. Exploring concepts of fragility by recalling vulnerable states of decline and recovery, they act both as a restorative and counteracting means of expression. have lived with mental illness for over 20 years but have rarely spoken about it. Disclosure suggests repercussions. Shame and misunderstanding abound and overwhelm.
To foster a stronger community which is inclusive and supportive of people with mental illness, there needs to be a shift that looks at vulnerability and misplacement as something other than weakness and unsightly mutation"
