Max Middlewood

"I started oil painting as a way to give myself a purpose during a time of ongoing physical distress. It consumed me very easily and quickly become my one and only way of expressing my feelings and what I was going through.

I now use it as a way to navigate the world around me and as a kind of self therapy / diary entry. Living with a personality disorder can often be hard to express with words, so I feel like my paintings are the best way I can communicate what is going on inside. I use the canvas to bridge the gap between the chaotic mental landscape, the dreamscape & reality.

This particular piece is a strong depiction of the constant cycle of emotions that I go through during particularly intense periods with my condition, and how it affects me on the outside."
