Mike Gregory

“I’m mainly a figurative artist but have done abstracts. I initially turned to art after the deaths of my parents and my wife having a brain aneurysm. To say it helped would be a massive understatement. It basically healed me as I’d internalised everything and became quite unwell.

I’ve done at least one piece a day sometimes up to four, ranging from self portraits to themes of homelessness, BLM and whatever affected me during this strange time. The self portraits were very revealing and cathartic for me.

All of my portrait pieces have been described as melancholic, sad, emotive etc. It must be related to my state of mind? I’m quite deep and an introvert so maybe? I’m trying to understand myself at the moment. It’s DEFINITELY helped my mental state."
